Wine, expecially muscat wine, has always been part of Samos's history, since 1200 before Christ, the local community planted fieldes with vines. Bottles certificated "Samos" guarantee the origin of this wine; only from white pick grapes of Ambelos mountainside vineyards. this special product has been under control by the cooperative of wine-producing of Samos since was founded in 1934. The reason why this wine has been protected, is to preserve wine's quality and invest in new technologies. The cooperative of wine_producing operate throught two wine-producing society in Malagari and karlovassi; most of this wine is exportated in Europe and America. Oil of olive has been the first agriculture product exported from Samos; during the first half of XX century there were about 66 olives press in Samos.
